About Wihōkan Technologies, LLC

Wihōkan Technologies is a tribally affiliated joint venture between Rappahannock Enterprises, LLC (Minority Venturer) and Netmaker Communications, LLC (Minority Venturer), established to deliver secure, mission-critical public safety and telecommunications solutions across federal, state, tribal, and critical infrastructure environments.

MEANING BEHIND THE NAME

Wihōkan is derived from an Eastern Algonquian root meaning "to protect, to guard, or to keep safe," reflects our mission of safeguarding communities while advancing trust and innovation.

GOVERNANCE & LEADERSHIP

Wihōkan Technologies operates under a joint-venture governance model that meets federal and Tribal procurement, contract, performance standards, and transparency. Our leadership combines Tribal stewardship, veteran discipline, and deep operational resilience.

Return to the Rappahannock River

On June 17, 2017, the Chesapeake Conservancy joined the National Park Service and numerous other partners to formally transfer ownership of a one-acre property to the Rappahannock Tribe. The parcel, purchased by Virginia Warner, daughter of former U.S. Sen. John Warner, is part of the tribe's ancestral lands along the Rappahannock River. 

The tribe will use this land as a staging area for their Return to the River program, an effort to engage tribal youth in the traditions of their ancestors that were practiced there for thousands of years and in traditional water-related activities, such as canoeing, fishing, and camping.
